Christina Massey’s series of woven paintings originally began in 2009 during the Recession and was revisited in 2020 during the Pandemic. With limited resources available during both time periods, she looked to create with what was available versus sourcing new objects, even if this meant repurposing her own artworks. The woven surfaces act as abstracted maps or landscapes for her to paint upon in bold mostly monochromatic or limited palettes.
